About SayWhatClub's mailing listsSayWhatClub is currently operating 10 mailing lists. Some of these mailing lists are so-called focused or special topic lists while other lists are not focused on a particular topic, the so-called "general main lists". The SayWhatClub lists are "closed lists" which means that you cannot subscribe yourself to our mailing lists, but you have to be subscribed by the list manager(s). For information on how to join our mailing lists you can contact our Hospitality Committee at info@saywhatclub.com. Basically, anyone 18 years of age or older and having an interest in hearing loss can join our lists. Please write in English, as that is also the conversation language on our lists. Because of space limitations on the main lists, people normally can be placed on only one general main list. In addition it is possible to ask for subscription on one of the focused or special topic lists. If you are only interested in joining one of our focused lists, please let us know when you ask for information on subscribing to SWC.
SWC general main listsWe have five main lists which are not focused on any topic. These lists function as a meeting place for people where they can ask information about hearing loss and related issues like hearing aids, accommodation at the workplace, about how to deal with communication "problems" with relatives, friends etc. But we do talk about anything else too, hobbies, vacation, daily life trivia, work or even just vent our frustrations, in other words, the lists are also a place for socializing and some people consider the other list members to be their second family. In addition to the general lists we have focused lists and so-called "special topic" lists. More information on these lists is below. Focused lists and special topic listsThe focused and "special topic" lists are focused on one topic or area of topics. The focused lists can be joined as a main list. We have two focused lists, SWC_CI and DeafHearingCouples. We have three "special topic" lists, Commons, Global, and Terra. If you are already subscribed to one of our main lists you can ask the Hospitality Committee for more information about joining the special topic lists.
SWC_CISWC_CI got started as a list for SWC subcribers who have a Cochlear Implant (CI) or who were in the process of getting a CI and who wanted to share their experiences. It is now also open to people who are considering to get a CI but who want more information first. This list is about providing information and support to existing and new CI users and sharing the experiences with CI's.
Deaf/Hearing Couples (DHC)DHC is geared towards discussing the issues that couples are dealing with when one of them has a hearing loss and the other hasn't.
Global and TerraGlobal is a sublist that you can only join when you are on one of the "main lists", CI,or DHC and it focuses more on internationally oriented topics and culture, news and whatever more is of interest to its subscribers. The list is open to all SWC subscribers but we do expect that you have a serious interest in other cultures etc., have some idea of what is going on in the world outside your own country and that you have an open mind as cultural differences are more apparent on this list than on the main lists. Terra is open to all International members and a few USA members. |
