A Lighthearted Ode to Donna Penman

by Ed Morand

When William Penn's dad, in the late 17th, set out to found a state

They called it Pennsylvania, and the people cheered, "How great!"

It was tolerant of the Quakers' beliefs and friendly to native peoples.

Small wonder it grew so rapidly, and soon it was filled with tall steeples.

Then in 1776 the fathers of our nation met in Philadelphia and signed a Declaration.

It said that all are created equal and urged an end to persecution,

With guys like Jefferson, Madison, and Hancock, speaking with bold elocution.

Fast forward 232 years to SayWhat's recent convention:

It also met in old Philly, PA, with names too many to mention.

The soul of this fine gathering wasn't Penn, or Adams, but Penman!

That's Donna, a dedicated leader, a lady with truly the vigor of ten men!

She met with local businesses online and set up our lodging and agenda.

In email postings she worked hard for weeks, with Linda, and Gayl, and Brenda.

The workshops were great, with informed presentations, and the food was delicious and filling.

So, Donna, now that this year's con is over, we know that the next will be thrilling!

And a word to the wise, when it comes to the auction, better listen when Donna says: "That's all!"

For otherwise, friends, you may just find that she's chasing you out of the hall!
