The SWC San Diego Con is over now, and the 72 people who registered and came had a great time affixing faces to the names and e-mail addresses! We went to workshops, ate, went sighteeing, shopped, took pictures of one another, and stopped in the hallways to talk. Not necessarily in that order. This issue of the SWC Online Voices has articles from two people who attended:
I very nearly did not make it to the Con myself. I was one of the first to send in my registration fees, eagerly anticipating a few days in San Diego. Two weeks before the Con, my husband flew nearly 1000 miles away to start a new job -- leaving me to pack up our belongings and get our house ready to put on the market. I was convinced I could NOT make it to the Con. Bonnie Eggert, the convention chair, was equally convinced I COULD make it. To make a long story short, I did make it to the Con for two days -- exhausted, but happy to have a break from packing. I'm glad I went, and hope you will consider attending the SWC Con in 2001!
This issue contains the usual features: our Books column, You Were Asking ..., CI Corner, and our ever-popular Poetry Page.
The SWC is growing! We now have seven base lists, two permanent special topic lists, and two temporary special topic lists. The special topic lists can be subscribed to in addition to your base list. For more information, contact the Hospitality Committee.
As always, if you are interested in volunteer opportunities with the SWC, contact the Board of Directors for more information.
I hope you enjoy this issue! If you have any
suggestions for future newsletters, OR if you have any articles
