This traditional recipe is very popular amongst the Parsee community in India.
Ingredients:
Fish, Pomfret8 nos.
[Pomfret are medium sized, 10 12 inches long and thin white fish]
Limejuice 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves--- 1 cup
Green chilies [small hot variety]- 4
Grated coconut1/2 cup
Cumin seeds3 tsp
Garlic cloves6-8
Banana leaves3-4
Method:
- Clean, wash and cut fish fillets into 2’’ square pieces
- Sparkle salt and half the lime juice and keep aside for half an hour
- Grind coriander leaves, green chilies, grated coconut, cumin seeds and garlic to a fine paste. Add remaining limejuice and salt and mix well. Apply this marination to fish and keep aside for half an hour
- Cut banana leaves into 4 pieces each. Put marinated fish pieces with some marinade on banana leaves. Fold the leaves to cover the fish completely. Repeat for all the fish pieces.
- Steam the fish in a steamer for 15 minutes and serve hot.
