Travel Towards Understanding

Hearing loss can be quite a pain.
Trying to hear can be such a strain,
We listen so hard for each word and sound;
All we want is for fists to pound!
For trying to hear can drive one insane,
And no one wants to hear one complain.

Each day goes by and we try not to let our
Brains be drained,
Or we will hop on that train,
Where there is a place where peace
Can be found and all people understand
It's hard to hear in this grand land.

So in July we will take the road or fly,
To a common ground in Chicago to answer
The why's or How to succeed
In a world with the loss of sound
Where friends meet
And "Say What's" are happily
Understood and answered.

Never Say Quit

[Based on a poem by Harry Todd.
Revised and adapted by Neil Bauman.]

When the mountains loom high,
And the valleys sink low,
It's not time to quit,
It's just time to go.

When the battle is rough
And you can't seem to win,
It's not time to quit,
But time to begin.

When your business is nil,
And your spirit is low,
It's not time to quit,
Just get up and go.

When your friends let you down,
You don't know where to turn,
It's not time to quit,
But time to stand firm.

When looking at others,
That do nothing but sit,
You still must press on,
It's not time to quit.

When the struggle is hard,
And you feel like a twit,
It's losers alone--
That sit down and quit.

So press on to your dreams,
If you're tired, rest a bit,
For winners keep on,
They never say quit.
